Most weight loss surgery patients will struggle with food behaviours and eating habits in the weeks, months and years after surgery. There's often a lot of fear and anxiety about going back to how you were before.
You're likely to have weight regain, which can vary from a few kilograms to significant amounts.
This is not a personal failing on your part. The reasons why you were in a bigger body are complex.
However, there's a lot you can do to help yourself manage your weight long-term.
Kate's research for her Masters of Nursing found that the self-care skills you need to support your mental and emotional needs don't just appear when you lose weight, but you can learn and develop them.
Kate has now worked with thousands of patients on their journey to a better life after surgery, and can help you find the pathway forward and the self-care strategies that work for your unique experience.

These sessions are a roadmap for rewiring your brain. Managing your weight, whether with surgery, medication or both, often brings up unexpected emotional challenges that can derail your efforts.
Appointments with Kate will help you address your long-term behaviour around food, food 'noise', eating behaviour and other habits.
Her goal is to listen and support you with the utmost compassion, free of judgement and shame. You'll get help to develop sustainable, long-term self-care strategies that work for your unique needs.

Overseas surgery patient support

If you've had surgery overseas, it can be hard to find an experienced metabolic bariatric professional who can offer oversight and help with your unique needs.
Kate has spent 20 years working with thousands of metabolic bariatric patients, from before their surgery to years afterwards.
She can evaluate any physical and mental/emotional issues you're facing, which are common for weight loss surgery patients in the weeks, months and years after surgery.
She can also refer you to find help if you require specific follow-up.
You may also find it helpful to have an hour-long session with her if losing weight has brought up mental and emotional challenges (see Support & AfterCare Appointment).
